Associate Attorney

Ryan Romain works closely with clients to evaluate, develop, and implement strategies for protecting and enforcing their trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights in the U.S. and abroad.

Ryan registers and manages global trademark portfolios spanning various industries.  He has experience with numerous categories of products and services, including computer hardware and software, blockchain technology and applications, financial services and decentralized finance (DeFi), cryptocurrency, NFTs, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and supplements, marketing and promotional services, agricultural products, food and beverage, and consumer goods.  Ryan counsels clients on all aspects of the brand protection process—from evaluating and clearing potential marks to applying for and registering those marks around the world.

As registration is only the first step for protecting a brand, Ryan develops tailored policing plans and enforcement strategies.  He has combatted numerous instances of infringing activity through cease-and-desist letters, Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and social media takedown notices, trademark opposition and cancellation actions, Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings, and lawsuits.  Ryan has also negotiated complex co-existence and settlement agreements, as well as spearheaded trademark, copyright, and domain name due diligence for transactions valued at over a billion dollars.  Prior to joining Pranger, he was an Associate Attorney with the firm Morrison & Foerster.
