Peter advises technology-focused businesses, from emerging companies to leading global corporations, on strategies to build, protect, and leverage intellectual property portfolios that align with their business objectives. His practice focuses on patent portfolio management, domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, and intellectual property transactional matters in a variety of technical fields. Peter further has extensive experience preparing patent opinions for effectively counseling clients on enforcement and avoidance strategies, including clearance, infringement, and invalidity opinions. His experience includes working with companies in a variety of industries that include mechanical, electronic, software, and materials technologies.

In addition to providing counsel on intellectual property procurement, transactional, and opinion matters, Peter’s experience extends to providing guidance on post-grant and effective enforcement strategies. He further advises clients on trademark prosecution, as well as, agreements on general IP matters.

Prior to joining Pranger, Peter was a partner at a Global 100 and an AmLaw 200 law firm. He has practiced intellectual property law for over 20 years, after spending his early career as a licensed professional engineer and engineering consultant.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Advising leading healthcare and technology companies on strategically building global patent portfolios related to wearable devices, durable medical devices, implant technologies, digital healthcare solutions, diagnostic and monitoring devices, and healthcare management systems.
  • Counseling electronics and health care companies on technology agreement matters.
  • Counseling leading computer hardware manufacturers on strategically building and protecting their IP portfolios, including in inter partes reviews (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
  • Counseling international leaders in engineering, manufacturing, and scientific research technologies strategical building and protecting IP portfolios, and on patent opinion matters, including for battery systems, power equipment, simulation software, packaging systems, infrastructure systems, and composites.
  • Advising world-renowned research institutions on licensed and non-licensed technologies directed to COVID-10-related technologies, microfluidic cell structure devices, medical imaging, positioning systems, and micro-electonmechanical system (MEMS)  technologies.
  • Representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation and other intellectual property matters related to consumer electronics, medical device, imaging, and digital technologies.
